Professor Jane Bower BSc, MBA, MA/FPM, PhD, FRSE
Jane Bower spent the first 15 years of her career as a molecular genetics research scientist at Edinburgh University, Stanford Medical School, and the MRC Human Genetics Unit. She became increasingly involved in issues surrounding the transfer of novel technology and its commercialisation in small and large firms and her work from 1990 focused on the process of technological innovation in a number of international, high technology industries. She has been a Board member of a number of organisations public and private, including the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council, 2001-5, and several small technology firms. She was a member of the Scottish Science Advisory Committee from 2002-4 and is currently a Visiting Fellow at the ESRC Innogen Institute at Edinburgh University. She is Vice Chair of the Association for the Protection of Rural Scotland and manages a major ecological restoration project in the Scottish Borders.
