INSPIRING INNOVATION IN SCOTLAND’S STATE SCHOOLS
Reform Scotland was delighted to host this discussion about some of the most inspiring innovations currently taking place in the nation’s schools. The video and audio files of the event can be accessed below.
Our guests were:
Victoria Vardy, CEO of Gen+. Victoria leads a team that is helping students to develop crucial leadership and meta-skills. Gen+ is already working in schools across six Scottish local authority areas, and aims to be in more than 2000 schools by 2026/7.
Ali Struthers, co-founder of Taskmaster Education. This project uses elements of the popular Channel 4 comedy show Taskmaster to inspire, engage and teach young people. Ali also created School Tasking, an interactive university outreach project that enables young people to learn about interesting aspects of the law through tasks set in the style of Taskmaster.
Ian Munro, Rector of Dollar Academy. Under Ian’s leadership, Dollar, an independent school based in Clackmannanshire, has created FIDA, the Futures Institute at Dollar Academy. FIDA is an open-access online learning platform used by a growing number of Scotland’s state schools. It empowers young people to learn in new ways, through innovative projects rooted in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
