INSPIRING INNOVATION IN SCOTLAND’S STATE SCHOOLS

2pm Tuesday 26 September

Reform Scotland invites you to join a discussion about some of the most inspiring innovations currently taking place in the nation’s schools.

Many of the most interesting reforms happening in state schools are being driven from outside the system by education entrepreneurs. Reform Scotland is bringing together the leaders of three impressive projects to discuss their work and the positive impact it is having.

Our guests will be:

Victoria Vardy, CEO of Gen+Victoria leads a team that is helping students to develop crucial leadership and meta-skills. Gen+ is already working in schools across six Scottish local authority areas, and aims to be in more than 2000 schools by 2026/7.

Ali Struthers, co-founder of Taskmaster EducationThis project uses elements of the popular Channel 4 comedy show Taskmaster to inspire, engage and teach young people. Ali also created School Tasking, an interactive university outreach project that enables young people to learn about interesting aspects of the law through tasks set in the style of Taskmaster.

Ian Munro, Rector of Dollar Academy. Under Ian’s leadership, Dollar, an independent school based in Clackmannanshire, has created FIDA, the Futures Institute at Dollar Academy.  FIDA is an open-access online learning platform used by a growing number of Scotland’s state schools. It empowers young people to learn in new ways, through innovative projects rooted in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

This event will be chaired by Chris Deerin, Director of Reform Scotland
