A report calling for Scotland to get its own Chancellor with full powers to raise taxes was welcomed by the SNP last night.
The right-leaning Reform Scotland think-tank said Holyrood should be responsible for raising all its own cash, including a share of oil money. The report has been submitted to the Calman Commission on devolution.
Nats treasury spokesman Stewart Hosie said: “The Scottish Parliament must have the power to borrow if it is to be able to manage Scotland’s economy through good times and bad.”
